Travis Band Success!
The Travis Concert Band and Symphonic Band competed at the Region 15 U.I.L. Concert and Sight Reading Contest held at U.T. Pan American. Both bands earned a SUPERIOR rating from all three Concert judges and a SUPERIOR rating from all three Sight – Reading judges earning a SWEEPSTAKES Award for both bands. In the three days of competition, Travis Middle School was one of only two schools from the entire region to have both bands receive a SUPERIOR rating from all six judges! The Concert Band is under the direction of Ms. Denyse Cruz and the Symphonic Band is under the direction of Nefi Olivares. Congratulations!
Congratulations Teacher of the Year!
Travis Middle School administration, students and staff wish to congratulate Mr. Eric Casas on being selected our Teacher of the Year for 2008-2009.

CHOIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS!
I am proud to shout from the choir room the accomplishments of the choir students!! After many, long rehearsals and diligent work the Choir students came home with two Sweepstakes trophies and one Superior Rating from the UIL Contest and Sightreading competition, March 5 and March 6 at UTPA. The students and I want to thank you for all of your support and encouragement in this endeavor. It was very challenging however the students are seeing that hardwork can pay off.
Each choir prepared three songs and sightread a brand new piece especially written for the contest. Each choir came home with a Superior rating in sightreading. They have come along way!!!!!! I am super proud of them!!!!
The 7th and 8th grade boys choir received a Sweepstakes! From all 6 judges, they received straight 1's.!
The 7th and 8th grade Mix choir also received a Sweepstakes on Friday.
The 7th and 8th Grade Treble choir received an Excellent rating on stage and a Superior rating in the sightreading room.

Thank you,
Carrie Hemminger

Orchestra Concert Results
Hello.  I am very pleased to announce that our orchestra represented our school quite well at the UIL Orchestra Concert and Sightreading Contest.  Our students did an excellent job on-stage and off-stage.  I could not ask for a better focused and participatory group of kids.  Here are our results--

 Concert--Division I rating (Superior Performance)Sightreading--Division I rating (Superior Performance)

Receiving a Division I on both categories earned us the "Sweepstakes" award.  While this event is not a head-to-head competition with other schools, I believe our students achieved at a high level.  I am very proud of their performance.
Thank you for all the support you have given me and our string program,
 Jesus Tovar
