McAllen ISD is on iTunesU!
That makes McAllen ISD one of the first school districts in the country to post curriculum on this electronic format that, until now, has always been reserved strictly for universities. One of the first series that has been posted is an award-winning conversational Spanish TV series that features McAllen ISD students, ?Platiquemos? Stories on KGBT Channel 4, KVEO Channel 23, McAllen Cable Network, The Monitor.

On Saturday, December 10, 2011, members of the Travis Band competed in the
Texas Music Educators Association Middle School Region 15 Band Audition. Over
750 Valley students auditioned to earn a chair in one of the bands. Travis
had three students selected for the bands. Miguel Espinoza on Trombone,
Cesar Montes on Euphonium, and Javier Riojas on Tuba. The students will be
performing at the T.M.E.A. Region Band Concert on January 21, 2012 at the La
Joya Performing Arts Center. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Congratulation to all the students who auditioned.
Travis Middle School was awarded the Texas Title 1 Priority Schools grant this summer. This grant is only awarded to eligible schools as determined by the United States Department of Education. The grant will be used to improve our school in the area of technology, instruction, and community involvement. The following headline appeared in the Valley Town Crier: “McAllen’s Travis Middle School awarded technology grant worth nearly $3 million.” For more information, read the August 24th issue of the Valley Town Crier.
